David Gatz, a 2010 Ohio Wesleyan graduate, was awarded a 2011 Walter Byers Postgraduate Scholarship. Gatz also won an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and was a Rhodes Scholar semifinalist (final 32).

Quentin Brelsford won the 1946 NCAA cross country championship, then one race encompassing all divisions, to become Ohio Wesleyan's first national champion in cross country.

Ohio Wesleyan has made 20 NCAA playoff appearances in baseball. During the 14-year stretch from 1990-2003, the Battling Bishops missed the NCAA Division III tournament only once.

The Ohio Wesleyan women's basketball team advanced to the NCAA Division III national semifinals in 2001, finishing third in the nation that year.
