Men's Cross Country Places Fourth at NCAA Regional

4th of 35 at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

Senior Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), senior Kale Booher (Covington/Newton), senior Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), and junior Nathan Kafity (Huron/Lake Ridge Academy) won all-region honors in leading the Bishops at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday in Oberlin.

Calvin (Mich.) placed 5 runners among the top 12 individual finishers to win the meet with a total of 38 points. Wabash was second with 100 points, followed by Manchester (197), Ohio Wesleyan (201), and Albion (224). Hope was sixth with 226 points, followed by Case Reserve (237), John Carroll (260), Oberlin (279), and Ohio Northern rounded out the top 10 team finishers with 280 points.

With the fourth-place team finish, Ohio Wesleyan is eligible for an at-large selection to the NCAA Division III championship meet set for Nov. 19 at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Kronemer finished 18th among individuals in a time of 25:38.18, while Booher was 19th in 25:41.95, with both runners finishing in those spots for the second straight year.

Hitchcock placed 23rd in 25:50.05, followed by Kafity in 24th place in 25:52.05. The top 35 finishers in the race receive all-region status.

Junior Tyler Tomazic (Medina/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished off the Bishop scoring with a 122nd-place finish in 27:26.46.

Sophomore Ian McCaslin (Prospect, Ky./Saint Xavier) was 154th in 27:53.32.
