Freshman Matthew Mahoney (Nashua, N.H./Phillips Academy) won an event to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the OWU Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at the Meek Center.
Kenyon won the meet with 583 points to 296½ for Ohio Wesleyan. Oberlin was third with 255 points, followed by Findlay (234½) and Notre Dame (144).
Mahoney won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.38 and added a third in the 200 breaststroke and a fourth in the 100 freestyle. He also teamed with sophomore Taylor Smith (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), freshman Marcus Ramirez (Ukiah, Calif.), and sophomore Sean Anthony (Coldwater) to finish second in the 800 freestyle relay; and joined forces with senior Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario), Ramirez, and sophomore Jacob Beach (Upper Sandusky) for a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
Other standouts for the Bishops included Anthony, who was third in the 400 IM, fourth in the 200 breaststroke, and sixth in the 100 breaststroke; Smith, who placed fourth in the 1000 freestyle, sixth in the 500 freestyle, and eighth in the 100 freestyle and 400 IM; Ramirez, who finished fifth in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 100 butterfly; Sheldon, who finished fifth in the 200 backstroke; freshman Ryan Stefancik (Richmond Heights/Hawken School), who was sixth in the 200 backstroke; and junior Jacob Perl (Mansfield/Senior), who placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke.
