T2nd of 10 at Allegheny Invitational
Senior Caleb Chiero (Westerville/Central) and junior Jerry Moore (Mogadore) recorded top-5 finishes to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Allegheny Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College on Saturday and Sunday in Meadville, Pa.
Wittenberg won the tournament with a 601, finishing 13 shots ahead of Ohio Wesleyan and DePauw. Denison finished in fourth place at 620, followed by Allegheny (624), Wooster (628), Wabash (648), Hiram (663), Kenyon (665), and Oberlin (805). The tournament is the first of 2 events in the North Coast Athletic Conference championship tour.
Chiero shot a second-round 76 to finish with a 147, 3 shots behind medalist Craig Osterbrock of Wittenberg.
Moore fired a second-round 71 to move into a tie for fourth place at 148.
Freshman Jon Neroni (Kettering/Alter) tied for 21st place with a 159, senior Justin Akers (Richwood/North Union) tied for 24th place at 160, and senior Nate Fridley (Sidney/Lehman Catholic) tied for 27th place with a 161.
