Ohio Wesleyan 4, Otterbein 3
Otterbein 7, Ohio Wesleyan 1

Sophomore righthander Dani Haley (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) helped her own cause by smashing a go-ahead 2-run homer as Ohio Wesleyan edged Otterbein in the opener of a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday in Westerville.

In the nightcap, the Cardinals raced to an early 5-0 lead and went on to salvage a split of the twinbill.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the opener on a 2-run double by freshman first baseman Cassi Ladina (Dublin/Coffman) in the third, but Otterbein tied it on RBI doubles by Casey Clarridge in the third and fifth frames, and took the lead when Clarridge came around to score on Erin Carpenter's single in the fifth.

The Bishops answered in the top of the sixth when Ladina led off with a single and Haley followed with a circuit clout to right center.

Haley would allow just one baserunner during the sixth and seventh innings to finish off the win.

Otterbein took the lead in the second game when Laura Basford led off the Cardinal first inning with a bunt single, then stole second, third, and home.

Maggie McMahan doubled with one out in the Otterbein second, and one out later, Elyse Brigham and Basford followed with back-to-back doubles to extend the lead to 3-0.  After an RBI single from Clarridge, Carpenter followed with another double to make it a 5-0 game.

Carpenter's 2-run homer in the sixth pushed the Cardinal lead to 7-0.

The Bishops got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh as junior outfielder Morgan Hall (Dublin/Coffman) led off with a single and junior outfielder Lauren Elkins (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) sliced a double down the leftfield line.

Junior righthander Amanda Barker (Granville) was the starting and losing pitcher for Ohio Wesleyan.

Kelsey Long pitched the complete game for Otterbein.
