Ohio Wesleyan 8, Wooster 1
Sophomore Jordan Leslie (Bristol, Wis./Westosha Central), freshman Alex Webb (Tipp City/Tippecanoe), and senior Emily Kiourtsis (Pickerington/North) were double winners as Ohio Wesleyan wrapped up the regular season with a non-divisional win over North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wooster on Tuesday in Wooster.
Ohio Wesleyan will be the No. 7 seed in this weekend's NCAC tournament and will take on second-seeded Oberlin at 11 a.m. on Friday in Gambier.
Leslie and Webb teamed up for an 8-1 win over Rachel Dietz and Kelsey Jenkins at No. 1 doubles. Leslie then dispatched Ashley Stockwell by scores of 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Webb was a model of consistency in defeating Emily Linville at No. 5 singles, prevailing by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Kiourtsis came out on top in a pair of marathons, coming from behind to defeat Kelsey Jenkins at No. 2 singles by a count of 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. Earlier, Kiourtsis paired with senior Mackenzie Conway (Marion/Pleasant) for a 9-8 (7-3) win over Stockwell and Lauren Gilliss at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Lydia Tritschler (Granville) defeated Boo Flynn at No. 3 singles by scores of 7-6 (7-4), 6-0; senior Becky Simon (Hilliard/Darby) came from behind to outlast Lauren Grimanis at No. 4 singles, prevailing by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6); and freshman Whitney Lonnemann (Cincinnati/Mariemont) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Rachel Dietz at No. 6 singles.
