Box Score
Otterbein 2, Ohio Wesleyan 1

Senior midfielder Jessie Huschart (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) converted a penalty kick to erase a 1-0 deficit, but Otterbein scored in the 76th minute and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference play on Tuesday at Roy Rike Field.

Otterbein had taken a 1-0 lead less than 90 seconds into the game when Melinda Stemen hit a shot from the right side of the Bishop penalty area.

The Bishops threatened with a shot by freshman forward Claire Lofgren (Kirtland), but Otterbein keeper Dana Strimbu was there for the save.  Senior midfielder Devon Bradley (Versailles, Ky./Sayre School) also put a pair of long shots on goal, but both drives were held up by the breeze, allowing Strimbu to make routine plays.

Cardinal forward Alana Gaither made a run into the box in the 35th minute, with Bishop keeper Alexandria Cranmer (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) leaving her line to challenge the play.  Gaither pulled the trigger on a quick shot, but Cranmer stopped it from close range, and while Gaither was able to get to the rebound first, her follow shot went wide right.

Ohio Wesleyan pulled even in the 64th minute after a centering pass into the box resulted in the Cardinals getting whistled for a hand ball and the Bishops awarded a penalty kick.  Huschart stepped to the spot and converted the kick for her first goal of the season.

Moving from the left side of the field toward the middle, Stemen got past a Bishop defender near the top of the box and put a shot into the upper right side of the goal to give Otterbein the lead with 14:28 left in regulation time.

Huschart would have a couple of looks at the Cardinal goal during the remaining minutes, but both times Strimbu was there for the save.

Otterbein outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 24-14.  Cranmer finished with 6 saves in the Bishop goal, while Strimbu had 8 saves for the Cardinals.
