at NCAA Division III championships
Sophomore Brian Cook (Strongsville), senior Ethan Freet (London), sophomore Matt Hunter (Lexington, Mass.), senior Silas Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), senior Matt Martin (New Brighton, Pa./Riverside), and freshman Adam Turner (Clyde) will represent Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III championship meet to be held May 23-25 at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in LaCrosse, Wis.
Jolliff is seeded seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of :47.63. He won the 400 at the North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet, with his :47.63 breaking a conference record that had stood since 1999. Jolliff won All-America honors in the indoor 400-meter dash in March, finishing fifth in :48.93.
Freet is seeded 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of :52.45. He won the event at the NCAC championship meet, with his :52.45 breaking a conference record, and was named Sprinter/Hurdler of the Year.
Hunter is seeded 18th in the decathlon with a total of 6227 points. He won the event at the NCAC championship meet, with his 6227 points setting a school record.
The Ohio Wesleyan 1600-meter relay team of Turner, Cook, Martin, and Freet is seeded seventh with a time of 3:13.09. That time won the NCAC championship, shattering the NCAC record by nearly 4 seconds. The Bishop 1600-meter quartet of Jolliff, Cook, Martin, and Freet won All-America honors with a second-place finish in 3:16.72 at the NCAA indoor championship meet in March.
