Ohio Wesleyan University assistant football coach Deon Broomfield has signed a free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League, it was reported by multiple outlets.

Broomfield joined the Ohio Wesleyan coaching staff in January and coaches the Battling Bishop defensive backs.

Broomfield, a 2013 graduate of Iowa State University, started at strong safety for the Cyclones in 2013, ranking fourth on the team with 57 tackles.  He intercepted one pass, broke up 6 others, and forced 2 fumbles.  One of the highlights of his playing career was making the game-winning tackle in ISU's triple-overtime win over West Virginia.

"In a short amount of time, Deon has made a huge impact on our current student-athletes as a coach," said Ohio Wesleyan head football coach Tom Watts.  "We're very excited for him and we'll be rooting for him."
