Ohio Wesleyan junior Claude Gray (Avon) was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-America team, it was announced today by the NABC.
Gray was a first-team All-America selection.
Gray, a post player, was named the North Coast Athletic Conference's Player of the Year, the Bishops' third NCAC Player of the Year selection in the last 4 seasons. Gray led the NCAC in scoring with an average of 19.4 points per game and ranked 13th in the conference in rebounding with an average of 5.8 per game. He was second in the league in 3-point field goals (2.8/game), tied for eighth in steals (1.4/game), and was ninth in free throw percentage (.778) and 3-point field goal percentage (.392).
The Battling Bishops finished the season with a 22-6 record. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship with a 16-2 record, the Bishops' first NCAC title since the 1987-88 season, and made its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament.
